Summerfest is a week-and-a-half long music festival. It's got about ten stages and goes about twelve hours a day. Gate admission is eleven bucks this year, and all the shows are included except for the Marcus Amphitheater shows. Most of this year's acts are anounced, and these are the ones I want to see:

Jun 27, Heart
Jun 28, Buddy Guy
Jun 29, The B-52's
Jul 1, Indigo Girls
Jul 2, Soul Asylum
Jul 3, Live
Jul 4, Our Lady Peace
Jul 5, Blondie
Jul 6, Midnight Oil
Jul 7, Violent Femmes

Marcus Amphitheater:
Jun 28, Phil Lesh & Friends, The Allman Brothers Band and Lucinda Williams
Jun 30, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers and Brian Setzer Trio
Jul 1, BoDeans
Jul 7, Eagles

They're also having Ray Charles, INXS, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Jewel, George Thorogood, Ted Nugent, Widespread Panic, Nickelback, John Mellencamp, Sugar Ray, Bela Fleck, The Guess Who, Willy Porter, The Radiators, and dozens of other acts.

From what I see so far, I definitely want to go on July 1st and July 7th. We'll have to miss the acts that happen the weekend we're in Minneapolis.

From that list, I'd most like to see Tom Petty. But he's during the weekend. I do hope your trip doesn't interfere with a favorite pick!

Looks like you'll have to join us for the Petty show, if we go. ;-)

I saw him in Berkeley so long ago I barely remember.

i've seen live and blondie. the former was good, the latter unmemorable. i would love to see bela fleck. he isn't allowed to compete at the telluride bluegrass festival because he would win every time. he is the tiger woods of banjo. i would also love to see the indigo girls.

I really don't want to miss Live, but it's a big band in a small, extremely crowded area, so I'm not sure I'll bother. Same with the Indigos, but it wouldn't be as crowded. Fleck was on my maybe-see list, but the more I think about it...

stop thinking about it so much...

you can stand on the edge of the crowd and still hear the good music and enjoy the lake breezes

yeah yeah I know...smoke, spilled beer, too crowded, stinky, hassles

I keep missing George Thorogood when he's out here. I bet his show would be great!

The The Radiators from New Orleans? Geez, I haven't heard them in almost twenty years.

Are they good now? ;)

I've never seen them myself, but I imagine they're at least as good as they were then.

Seems like they were just in town a couple of months ago. Theyr'e someone I wouldn't mind seeing, but I just never get around to them.
