do they always say that Bush wasn't elected by the people?

Is it because of the Florida fiasco? That sucked, but lets make sure it doesn't happen again, and lets get on with things.

Is it because a slim majority of voters voted for Gore? If so, stop bitching about it. People don't elect the president by majority, they decide their state's votes by majority.

Is there something else?

Get over it, people. Stop bitching about it like it is his doing. Like he organized a coup or something. Maybe his syndicate in Florida engineered a success for him, but that's not the same thing.

republicans spent eight years complaining that a majority of the people voted against clinton, and that he only won because of third party candidates.

it is debateable whether bush even won the electoral college.

not all states give their electors en masse to the majority vote getter.

that said, i'm glad bush was selected by the supreme court. it virtually guarantees 8 years of someone better next time, whereas if gore had gone to the white house, we would be mired in bullshit investigations by rabid republicans and then get stuck with a bush equivalent for eight years.

I don't spend a lot of time agonizing over the issue, but there's no doubt in my mind that he was not the People's choice.
