Well that was cool. I saw Jupiter and its moons for the first time. I could make out the belts too (no big red spot). And I saw Saturn. Can you see any of its moons from here? I also saw the little pink spot that is Mars. We were dodging clouds the whole time, and finally about 9:10 the clouds came to stay and it rained a bit.

I saw saturn once through binoculars. It was a tiny, irregularly shaped spot.

cool........unfortunately, it's way too bright out to be looking for planets at 9pm here......in fact, it's still quite light at 10-10:30p when i hit the hay and already light at 5:30a when the alarm goes off......astronomy is a winter thing, here.....o

But you can go star gazing in the middle of the afternoon in winter!

not mid afternoon........but right after work.....the sun doesn't go down perpendicular to the horizon line here......it slides along the horizon......so, the light of day lasts longer than more southern locations

i do like the long daylight hours in the summer.....they allow infinite possibilities.....
