It really pisses me off when someone is not being fair, and they use they excuse, "life isn't fair," to justify it to you. What they're saying is, "life isn't fair, so why should I be? I want to screw you, and since there's a lot of unfairness in the world, you might as well get used to it."
Fairness isn't a factor in the way things happen in the universe, but it is a factor in how we act towards our fellow human beings. To say, "life isn't fair," is deluding yourself into thinking that you don't need to treat others right.
