My Grandma had a stroke.

On Saturday they found her on her bathroom floor. They don't know how long she was there. Because of illnesses, two hospitals turned her away.

At first she could only murmur her name. On Sunday, she was responding to questions with the word "yes." By Monday she was in good humor, if not completely with it. Late that night, her condition worsened and they had to put her on life support. By early morning, they took her off and she was breathing on her own.

My dad went down there today (it's about a seven hour drive to southern Indiana). He said this afternoon, she was marginally aware of what was going on around her. She knew he was there.

Last October Grandma had a stroke, but she was pretty much recoverd by June, when I was down there. This time it does not sound so good, because her condition improved, and then worsened.

My sister thinks we should go down to see her. If Grandma gets out of the hospital and needs to go into a nursing home, she will want to go to Alabama to be with her daughter, and my sister won't be able to get down there for a long time.

We'll have to wait and see what happens over the next couple of days.

I'm sorry, Kevin. :(

I'm glad your grandma knew your dad was there. And I hope you get a chance to see her soon. My heart is with you and your family.

I think you should go see her too. Although it's probably not very meaningful coming from a stranger such as myself, I wish you and your family well and join you in the wish for your grandma's health to return soon.

i'm sorry

i lost my grandparents several years ago, and my biggest regret was not getting to know them sooner and not being with them at the end. i say, if you can do it, go.

My grandpa had a stroke and I saw what he went through. I know it can be a terrible ordeal. I hope that your grandmother takes a turn for the better and experiences a good recovery. Keep us posted on her progress.

My best wishes to you, and even more to your grandma.

I'm glad I saw both my grandmothers near the end.

Now I know I have to make time to see my grandfather.
