Actually, American gas prices have been artificially low for decades, mainly for political reasons. If gas prices soar (Europeans are used to paying anywhere from $3 to $8 per gallon), we will be forced to look more closely at alternative energy sources and alternative, more green-friendly methods of travel.
hmmmm, the saudi's can deliver crude oil to most any port in the world for about two bucks a barrel....tankerload quantities.....
take a look at the taxes paid on that gasoline in europe, and you will find that most of the moneies paid for the product, are for taxes......
it's a fact, that american gasoline prices have remained stable over the long run, with the exception being in the late '70's......you will see a fairly flat trend as along as the dollars are all normallized.....today's dollar is nothing like the dollar i used in high school to fill up the willys.....

No explanation for what's moving the gas market, but lots of interesting stuff such as National Average, State by State Average, and specific local markets at AAA's "Daily Fuel Gauge Report" at www.fuelgaugereport.com/
