I was rather disappointed to see that Star Trek wasn't on at its usual time last night. It was preempted by a basketball game. I was annoyed because it was the first time I had watched TV since the fourth episone of Enterprise. So before I turned the TV off, I scanned through the channels just in time to see U2 beginning their song, opening up the Grammy show. Very cool.

Did Bob Dylan perform? What did you think?

I truly hate when they take off my favorite program for a sports game or worse a Dem/Rep convention. :-)

What really annoys me is that the same comopany owns two TV stations here. One of them is a network affiliate (okay, it's only UPN, but still), and the other is independent. Guess which ones they but the basketball games on? And basketball season lasts forever.

Hmm, here Star Trek was on, and the game was on at 9 afterwards. I think they re-show it on Saturdays at 8.

I forgot to mention that it was on after the game, at 8:30. It turned out okay, except that it kinda messed up my evening. TV was supposed to be at the beginning, instead of in the middle. Oh well.

So have you any thoughts about the music I sent you?

Yes, and I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. I love the music you sent me. Mostly, I've been listening to the disk with the Kate Bush. I'd never heard of half the songs on the disk, and I really like it a lot. I've listened to the other disks but not carefully yet (just in the background as I've been doing dishes or whatever). Thanks again for sending them to me. I'm hoping to get some more blank tapes one of these days so I can send out more music; I have some new stuff you might be interested in, but I'll let you know about that when I get ready to begin taping again.

I'm glad you like it. No hurry on the other points.

i still owe you one more. It will be the louder stuff. Be sure to let me know if there is anything else you want in that area.

You mentioned a while back that you had some Radiohead. I have The Bends and I have the following songs (maybe they're an entire CD, but I don't know): fitter happier, electioneering, paranoid android, karma police, no surprises, exit music, talk show host, idioteque, kid a, how to disappear completely. Do you have other Radiohead songs or CD's? I really really love the stuff I have already. (And if that list of songs is stuff you don't have, let me know and I'll tape it for you.)

I forgot to mention in the original post that it was on after the game, at 8:30. It turned out okay.

I did like the episode. It sounded like the mind meld was only practiced by the "rebels." So I wonder how their telepathic powers eventually resurfaced and became commonplace (though limited) in society.

So do I. And I'm usually successful at not getting annoyed when it doesn't fit in. ;-)

I missed that one. I heard about them though.

I saw the first five or six episodes, and then I never managed to catch any more until last night.

I'm amused that no one is speaking about the Grammys here, which, of course, speaks volumes.

Dylan did perform, but you really don't want to know!

My predictions: Whoever wrote this year's "presenter banter" will not be on staff for next year's show.
Whoever worked the TelePrompter will not return to the show next year.
Jon Stewart will lose 15 pounds before next year's show.
They will find a way to fit a classical musician into a rap song.
Next year's show will go even longer over time than this year's show.
A lot of people who don't deserve to win Grammys will.

I take it Bob didn't appeal? Do you say that as a big Bob fan or as the average listener?

Predictions:
1. Sure, but they won't be any better.
4, 5 & 6. Gimmies

Oh Bob, Poor Bob...

We now need Dylan to English dictionaries to understand the songs he sings. I have a great deal of admiration and respect for Bob. But when he was cutting edge, the Grammys were interested in honoring Perry Como and Andy Williams.

I think big Bob fans would just feel sad about the performance. Average listeners went to watch "Enterprise," if it was available in their areas.

I don't know. I'd have to hear a second opinion. I've seen him live three or four times, and each time it gets better. The first time I saw him it was a lot like you describe this one. I think I just got used to him. :-/
