I don't know what either band sounds like. Are you saying you don't like them?

i'm sure i could find songs by either that i would like, but very few bands of the hard rock variety do much for me, especially live.

Did you see my list of live bands (http://www.livejournal.com/talkread.bml?itemid=21058653&nc=9) I've seen over the last year and a half? Did you recognize or like many of them? I definitely have a hard rock side in my musical taste, as well as all the rest.

that is a lot of shows! i didn't say i don't like hard rock, but i am particular. i would go see queensryche but not ozzy, even though i would probably see black sabbath. i would see live, in fact i have, but not the goo goo dolls.

Is there a typo in your last sentence?
I saw the Goo Goo Dolls. Very good, but very loud (memorably, painfully loud).

I don't go to the metal shows either, although I would see Ozzy and or Sabbath.

no, i was referring to the band Live. i made the mistake (for me) of buying a googoo dolls album. i only liked the one mellower song they put on the radio.

I've seen Live twice. Once was in the back of a 2,000 seat theater, where the sound was bad, and another in the back of a 18,000 seat amphitheater where you couldn't connect with them.

I guess I'm so impressed by them that my standards are too high.

The Goo Goo Dolls is an odd band. In their earlier days they were very punky. Now they're nice and mellow and poppy. I think I saw them around the time that "Iris" came out (or shortly before). They were still rocking, live.

i listen to a lot of music i'm not interested in seeing live. i want virtuoso musicianship, album quality performance and a good show. sometimes i'm satisfied with only two of those, but never less.

I'd probably break it down a little more than that, but those are the basics. :-)

Having never been to a real concert in my life (INXS doesn't count, they sucked so bad live, I left after 20 minutes)... I really couldn't say which gives a better show. Personally, I'd go with Cracker. Dream Theater is more likely to do a major tour again sooner than them, I'd think. From what I've seen, Cracker doesn't tour much. :/ (If I'm wrong on this, let me know... maybe I've just moved so much, I've missed them when they have.)

This is, of course, assuming you like them both, and that was the reason for the disappointment, as opposed to disliking them and being upset that both would be near you at the same time. :P

I'm going to go with Drea Theater, for two reasons. (1) My girlfriend like them and doesn't seem to be too interested in Cracker, and (2) I've been more in that mood lately.

Unfortunately, I agree with you about the likelihood of another Cracker tour coming soon.

Ah, but if your girlfriend likes them, that's all the reason you need. ;)
And, who knows? Cracker could make the rounds again. :)
