My grandmother was flying from Madison, Wisconsin
to Denver, Colorado to visit her grand-niece. My
grandmother is the nicest woman in the world - polite,
intelligent, no smoking or drinking... the ultimate
devout Catholic. With all the tension surrounding air
travel, I can understand the desire to try to disallow
weapons on planes, but... she was detained by air
marshals for three hours because she had knitting
needles in her bag. Imagine! Three hours for
knitting needles! It turns out that the airline was
worried she was going to knit an Afghan.
