...or not.

I signed up for a water heater and installation at Home Depot last night. $220, plus another $220 for installation. They said I would get a call today to set up a time for the installation. I got a call at 12:30 saying he'd be over around 2:00-2:30. I was hoping for Friday, so I could clean the basement on Thursday evening (so there was room to get to the damn thing, without my stuff getting all wet. So I was going to leave work at 1:30. I got a call at 12:30, saying he was on his way, so I had to rush home, and got there just as he did. I pushed a bunch of crap out of the way, while he was getting his tools.

He couldn't hook up the wiring. The conduit didn't reach, and the wire was too small a gauge. So I still don't have any hot water. I have to get Bill to help me with that (assuming I don't have to get an electrician), and that will probly be tomorrow night. *sigh*

And then, he had the new one hooked up before the old one was drained, so I agreed to let it stay down there until it was empty, and I will take it outside myself, and he will come back to pick it up next week.

And I had to take half of my one remaining vacation day. But I was able to get online. And mail some CDs. And get my game together for tonight. But I'm out of clean dishes. Maybe I'll have to do them like we do when camping - heat water on the stove. I wish i could take a shower like that. :-/

Oh, but you can...;)
(From my May 5 journal)

"I got up this morning, turned on the water, kept my hand under the water running into the tub and realized that it wasn't warm in the least...and didn't seem like it would get warm any time soon! In disbelief, I sat on the edge of the tub with my hand still in the ice-water, hoping that it would miraculously get warm....
Nah.
Plan B:
Cover self with freezing water, shampoo hair..with hair piled in soapy mess on head, run back and forth to the kitchen naked to get the pots of water I put on the stove to empty them into my glass lemonade pitcher to then dump on my head to warm myself up... I didn't condition my hair at all, in fact, I let it air dry and didn't brush it before twisting it into a clip on the back of my head and coming to work. I called maintenance at my apt. and they say that they have no maintenance today, tomorrow, and the whole weekend. Looks like I'll be at Ryan's house, then..."

You might be able to take a bath like that...run cold water, then pour in the hot and jump in.
It's not the greatest thing in the world, but you won't freeze, and you'll be clean.

It's hard to wash your hair in the bathtub.

I know someone who has a hot shower, fluffy towels, free shampoo...even a free back scrubbing if you want. Front too, what the heck, I'm hospitable. ;)

hmmmmmm, cyn's offer seems the best for ya.....

too bad you don't have a "solar shower"......a nice camping toy.......you don't need the sun, you can just heat water and use it that way.....

sorry to hear about the wiring.......does the small wire come all the way from the breaker box?....if so, it will have to be replaced......

Fortunately the breaker box is only about eight feet from there.
