Cyn and I saw Billy McLaughlin last night. He is an impressive guitarist. He plays acoustic guitars in the two hand tapping style. (That means he doesn't press the string with one hand and pluck it with the other, he presses the string abruptly enough that it vibrates so he doesn't have to strum it. And he does this with both hands, so he can play twice as many notes as the average player). I've seen it done before, but Billy plays with the right hand over the neck playing the low strings.

He looked kind of odd. He plays with his eyes closed or rolled back in his head, and he sways back and forth. With the odd way he holds the guitar, he looked like Stevie Wonder playing a clarinet.

Jeff Arundel was the opening act. He is a good guitarist, and his singer, Carrie Noble is a great singer.

Billy wasn't wearing his leather pants this time. He had on blue jeans, and a kind of white tunic-style hippie-like shirt. When he sways and looks up the the air like that, it looked like he was receiving transmissions from outer space. *L* Maybe he was....oooOOOoooOooooo

That reminds me, somebody's cell phone started ringing during a dramatic pause in the guitar work of the first guy, Jeff Arundel. He made a friendly/sarcastic remark about how much that added to the song. I hope that person is ashamed of themselves.

Here at work, we have electronic card keys that you hold up to this little reader to unlock the door. One guy here that I'm not too fond of, keeps his key in his back pocket. He backs up his ass to the reader to open the door. I've said (when he can't hear me) that the Asshole Detector is working fine.

I saw a busker playing bass that two-handed tapping way today. I've never seen or heard of it before...

Bass? I think that would be tough. I believe the technique works better on instruments with shorter, tighter strings.
