I seldom have plans thwarted. I change or abandon plans, but that's by choice. I almost never have to deal with failed plans.
I've just recently noticed that I have plans all the time, but the things those plans are *for* only last a little while. And while they're happening, I'm not thinking how great it is that my plans worked. So I spend all that time planning, but little time appreciating that the plans were worth it. So it seems like a lot of effort with little payoff.
