I had the afternoon off work, so I went to Lion's Den park this afternoon, for my two-mile walk to the beach and back. There were very few people there, I think because there were storms predicted for early evening. I passed several groups of kids coming back from the beach, but I had it to myself. I didn't spend too much time there, stopping only to look for good rocks.
I saw a great blue heron, an egret (white variant of the blue), and eastern towhee, a flock of bluejays, and a cedar waxwing with young.
The weather was perfect - mid 70's, warm in the sun, pleasant in the shade. Though I guess the walk back was rather warm.
Note to self - next time take a backpack so I can put my shoes in it (and also rocks).
