the lake was like glass

I took a long lunch and went to Lion's Den yesterday afternoon. It was really nice. The sun was mostly out, the temperature was around 20°F, no wind and few people. The trails were packed snow, and hadn't turned to ice yet, so walking was fine. The stairs down to the lake were tricky, though.

It's been really cold lately, but there haven't been any winds to stir up waves. Or ships, for that matter. So the lake iced up and it was smooth, like glass. And then at some point, there was wind or waves which caused the ice to break up and be pushed toward shore.
