There have been a couple of spots that have needed painting. One was where the guys doing the bathroom remodel put a small hole in the wall next to the front door. They patched it, but I was going to paint it. That was... four years ago. The other spot was where I replaced the thermostat. Was that two years ago now? There were two shades of old paint showing where the old thermostat(s) used to be.
I finally sorted through all the old cans of paint, and found one called Pearl Essence or something. Our house is basically all white. There's one room that was blue when we moved in. Another we painted a very light green. But everything else is (still) white. Off-white, really. Cindy painted the little bathroom a few years ago, to get rid of the wallpaper border and cover the fishy stencils. She turned it from off-white to white. But everything else is the original off-white.
So I found this pearl color, and decided that was it. Most of the house is this veryvery light grey. That's the pearl color. But it turns out that the living room is a different shade of off-white. It's definitely darker and in a brown/yellow shade. So now, instead of a small white spot of plaster next to the front door, there's a large spot of white paint.
I had no idea it was a different shade!
