Paramount Blues Festival
Sep. 7th, 2014 12:03 amWe went to the blues festival, here in town. It was fun. We sat with a friend, whose wife showed up later. Last year I was a little aggravated because they like to talk with us through the entire show, but this year, they didn't do so. We got there around 4:00, and sat baking in the sun (not really complaining). Then the sun went behind a tree, and it cooled off. Then it went down, and it got downright cold. We both shivered through most of the evening. Were surprised to learn it was only the mid-sixties. Slight breeze, though.
Deb Callahan was playing when we arrived. I liked her set a lot. Maybe my favorite of the day. She's from Philly. The rest of the bands we saw were local.
Then the Jared James Nichols Band. Blues-ish hard rock. He did a Ted Nugent tune.

Then Reverend Raven & the Chain Smoking Altar Boys. Good show. Fun, swinging blues.
Then Jim Liban's band. I hadn't see him in years, so I wanted to see how he was doing now. Still good, but took way too long in between songs. He had a local blues guy, Stokes play a few tunes with the band. Then Milwaukee Slim joined for one. I loved Slim's red suit. I've been thinking lately that I want a purple one. And an excuse to wear it.
