Grafton's fireworks were on saturday night, from 9:45 to 10:15. Cedarburg's and Port Washington's were tonight. Port's started earlyish. After listening to the booms for a while, I realized Cedarburg's were going on, so I decided to wander outside to take a look. Saukville's were also happening, but they're not all that exciting (we can kinda see all but Port's from our house, also including Mequon's and/or Thiensville's) When I got to the end of the driveway, I realized that the crescent moon was just over the display, so I ran back inside and grabbed my camera.
As I got my camera, I heard the grand finale and rushed back outside. Apparently, it was Port's show that was finishing up, and I got quite a few shots with the moon. They were bad, though, since (1), the mailbox I was bracing on was a little wobbly, and (2) I didn't really know how to shoot fireworks. I was experimenting as I went.
Finally, I decided I'd go back in for my tripod. It took a few minutes to round everything up and get back outside. I figured I had about fifteen minutes of show left, so I walked up the road for a better vantage point. I got about halfway up, when they went into their grand finale. I couldn't get my camera set up in time, so I didn't get any shots using the tripod.
Also, I heard a heron in the pond across the street. I heard it fly overhead, and saw a shadowy form. I tried to fire off a shot with the flash, but I was having focusing issues in the dark.
