Cyn is still in the hospital for observation. She still has a bit of bad feeling in her chest. She doesn't know yet if they're going to give her the stress test. If they do, they want her to do it on a fast, so she hasn't eaten. It's four hours past breakfast. She thinks the lack of food is giving her heart palpitations.

She's still there. Bored. No food. They probably won't do the stress test until this afternoon, and probably release her this evening. I assume the stress test is chemical, and that's why she gets no food.

She says the stress test is on a treadmill, so now I don't know why she'd have to fast.

They were thinking of sending her home with the option to schedule the stress test for a later date. They got her up to walk around the area and she said she felt a little bit unsteady. So they're going to give her food, and they're going to keep her overnight and do the stress test tomorrow. Note that the only food she's had in 24 hours was a little bit of supper, and she's been lying in bed since 8:00 last night.

Now I'm pissed. If the test was an option for a later date... and they're not giving her medication right now... and she's only feeling a little faint... why are they keeping her another whole day?

I bet if she didn't have insurance, they wouldn't even have considered keeping her. This is why insurance rates keep going up.

I sat with Cyn all afternoon, and evening. My mom and sister came down for a while around 8:00. It was kindof a dull day. She just had to lie there all day. No tests. Just a few meds. It was shift change just after I got there, so at least we got to talk to the nurse while I was there. He said she could go home if she wanted, but he gave us that attitude where doctors know best - even though they weren't really going to be doing anything for her. He pretty much had me convinced it was important for her to stay, but after a minute, I found some holes in his story. The stress test was already scheduled for 7 AM, and you have to be there a couple of hours ahead of time, so she decided she might as well stay. It didn't occur to me to ask why she had to stay in ICU. Two of her neighbors got moved to regular rooms. After insurance, we're going to be paying for about 20% of this.
