weekend, so far

I've got two days worth of friends' posts to catch up on, and I can't read anyone else's comments, let alone reply to them. :-(

It's been a nice weekend. Cyn and I went to my dad's for dinner last night. He and I consumed a bit more scotch than necessary, but it was still a nice evening.

My friend Bill came over to help paint the garage. It was very cold. It was only in the forties, but it was sunny, so some of the garage was warm. The paint was very thick. It's not done yet, but it's to the point that if I don't get any more done this fall, it will make it through the winter.

I realized last night, as I was sitting at my dad's, that I had missed my LiveJournal first anniversary. October fifth. I would have liked to do something special for it, but I don't know what, so maybe it's just as well. :-/

And I just saw this morning that fifty people have listed me as friends!

Here's a good reason not to go to war:

Not everyone praised the action in Afghanistan. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid Reza Asefi said the attacks "were carried out without regard to world public opinion and particularly the Islamic countries. These attacks will result in loss of life among civilians, and, therefore, they are not acceptable."

Even most of the people who were in favor of military action said it needed to be taken by a multi-national coalition.
