media violence
Jan. 2nd, 2001 12:11 pmI'm not sure why, but I've got some images in my head that I can't get out.
Rmember the riots in L.A. after the Rodney King verdict? That was a long time ago, wasn't it? Remember that truck driver that was pulled out of his truck and beaten? He was driving a semi. If I recall correctly, it was a red cab with a silver tanker trailer. The news helicopter wsa circling, filming the beating. After he recovered, he had no recollection of the incident.
I was watching TV that day. Shortly before that, there was another white guy who was yanked out of his delivery truck, whose beating was also captured on film. He died.
But the guy who lived was was in the news for weeks afterwards. I guess because they couldn't interview the dead guy. They didn't have any happy ending to go with the dead guy's story. They didn't have any current film footage to keep the viewers' attention.
I hate the news media.
