Recently, Dave and I collaborated on a photography project. We combined our work to make diptychs. I had recently seen some people do this, and thought it would be interesting to try.

I picked seven of my photos, and he picked seven of his, and we exchanged them. Then we each went through our archives, looking for images that matched in some way. It was a lot of fun and it exercised the creative muscles.

I love how the colors match, of course, but also how everything is a little bit slanted.

It was tough to match Dave's image of an old truck on the street. Not sure if it was just because I didn't have much that went well, or because it's an intrinsically difficult image to match. Not one of the more successful pairings, but it kinda works. A colored vehicle with old buildings receding to the right.

Dave sent me the sign on the left, and I was like a sign, how am I supposed to match that? But then I found my own sign, and I thought it went well, with its white background and green edge.

I decided at the beginning, that I wasn't going to try to match up any of my flower petals. Any one of them would be either too easy or impossible. But I couldn't find any that matched this scene, even poorly, so I went through the abstracts and found this one.

So when I was all done with that, I went back through my flower petals, looking for matches. As predicted, there were some that went really well, and some were impossible.

And there was one where I had trouble deciding, so here's an alternative...
