much rain

We got somewhere around eight inches of rain since yesterday afternoon. Flash flood warnings. Standing water everywhere. Roads closed, and at least one washed out. There's a river, in a narrow channel, that was up 14 feet. Many basements and underground parking areas were flooded in Milwaukee.

I don't think I checked the forecast yesterday or Friday, but there was no rain in it the last time I looked. I wonder when they figured it out.

We discovered a leak in the roof. Water was coming down along the exhaust vent in the bathroom. Not much, fortunately. I'll need to wait until everything dries out, then go up on the roof and find where to caulk it.

That is a lot of water in a short time.
Hope the roof leak is simple.

They're talking in terms of record-setting rain, "not seen since the 1800's" and things like that. Record high river levels, but I'm not sure that's a good indicator after they take out all the wetlands.

I agree, it is hard to estimate how much extra moisture the soil would have held back then. Certainly a lot more than now.

OMG - please keep the rain (of course, hope everyone is OK and dry) - at least for a week? We are going camping next week and are excited about the beautiful weather - isn't it funny, now anything under 90F is considered beautiful?! :) And don't want a sudden change in weather pattern. Please?! :)

Uggh - on finding a leak on the roof!! Glad it sounds like it wasn't too big!!

It was moving northeast from here, and seems to have dissipated, so I think you'll be OK. And I heard something about a convergence of three factors - a front, extremely humid air, and something else. So whatever that was, don't do that!

I was doing some gardening, and someone said "on the hottest day of the year!" I said "it's only 90." :-D I did wish I had water along, though.
