I left the office early on Friday to drive out to Madison for the Photomidwest Biennial. I got there a little earlier than I expected, had time to check in to my hotel, and still arrive at the gallery early. The evening was good. I had some good talks with some people, and it was a good show. Afterward some of us went across the street to a bar. This included the juror and some of the artists who were giving talks the next day.
The next morning I was feeling a little under the weather. I had planned on walking downtown, and then catching the lecture at 11:00, but I felt like lying in the room for a while. I decided I should get my camera and go. I went up toward the Capitol, but I didn't see anything to shoot except the Capitol building itself. I went inside for a quick look around, and found I could go up to the dome level outside. So by the time I was done with that, and would have gotten down to the gallery, I would have missed the 11:00 speaker. So I just walked back to the hotel, and took my picture to the PMW studio to drop it off for an upcoming show. Made it back to the gallery for the 1:00 talk, but I was the only one there - it was at 1:30.
I ended up talking with another artist about art for a while, so that was cool. Then saw the 1:30 and 3:00 talks. Hung around awkwardly for a little while, then drove to Chicago.
I needed to by the whisky for our tasting before Wednesday, and I had a coupon (saved over $50) that expired that day. It was a really long drive. I thought I could save some distance by cutting down diagonally, but it didn't work that way. And I still had to go to two different stores. Made it home around 9:30, I think.
Today I had to go down to the Robert Burns monument (our Scottish club minds the grounds) and talk with some fellow members about a plan for gardening. It was Doors Open Milwaukee, so I wanted to see a few sites, but couldn't find a place to park for one of them (there were places, but my brain wasn't cooperating), and couldn't remember the other sites. So I came home and did a little yard work. That was about it.
