First week of June, a relative suffered a stroke. At the time I posted here about her cryptic message on Fb. That was when she was moved to rehab. She went home after that. I saw a photo of her in a wheelchair with the family at the zoo. But a week ago they put her into hospice care at home, and early yesterday morning she passed away.

Her daughter posted "I have been helping care for my mother last few weeks. Last night I put her to bed and said good night. I did not know then I was saying good night for the last time."

Aw, it happens so fast and unexpectedly sometimes. My condolences.

I had hoped to go to the funeral (Indianapolis), but we had prior plans - concert tickets. Was I wrong not to go? Between Covid and the prevalence of cremation and memorial services versus funerals, I was a little surprised they had the funeral pretty soon afterward.

I happen to think of funerals differently than other folks and would never judge someone's choice not to go. If it's something you begin to regret missing down the line, you may decide that it was the wrong decision. And, as you said, this all happened so quickly. That affects these decisions, too.

I think some members of her immediate family would have appreciated that we went. And it's therefore important. Plus, there was other family there that I would like to have seen. So it's not a big regret. Just a small one.
