It was kinda warmish this weekend, around 50°F.
We went for a walk in the park yesterday. Then, as a reward for getting exercise, we stopped for a beer. I think that beer was why I couldn't get to sleep last night.
Today it was nice when the sun was out - if you were out of the wind. Mid afternoon the clouds came out and the wind picked up. It wasn't very nice after that. The wind was well over 30 mph, with gusts over 40, and the temp dropped.
I had a tree cut down December 2019, and got some more from my neighbor. I intended to split the wood last year, but I need to rent a splitter. There's only one place in the county that has them, and last fall they were down for maintenance, and their maintenance company was closed for Covid. Apparently. So I tried again this fall after the kitchen project was done, but they seem to be having a similar problem.
So I split some by hand today and last weekend. I can only split it with an axe if it's not larger than about a foot in diameter, and then only when there isn't a branch in that section. I think I have enough to last the winter. A bit over a face cord. Maybe if I need, I can find more than I can split, but there's a huge pile of sections that are two feet in diameter, or larger. Not sure how dry it is, though. It's two years old, but it hasn't been split, and it's been uncovered.
I need to fix some small engines. I don't know how to fix small engines. My mom gave me her snowblower last year, but it doesn't start. I figure it shouldn't be too tough to take it apart, clean it up and put it back together. I have an old lawnmower that doesn't work, so I figured I'd practice on it first. I was just going to put it by the curb with a "free, doesn't work" sign on it, so if I screw it up it's no huge loss. But I can't even see how to get it all apart. Doesn't help that it was cold in the shed and I didn't really feel like hanging around there. I tried getting the engine loose from the mower body so I could work on it in the basement, but those bolts are frozen. I guess I'll have to take the whole thing down there.
Edited:
After supper I continued trying to map the circuits. I realized the shed was on a different circuit than I thought. I accidentally discovered which breaker the furnace was on, so that was convenient. And I still can't figure out which circuit that patio and the lights over the peninsula are on. I even used a circuit finder, and nothing lit up.
Then I cleaned my basement workshop a little. Got my tools put away. Threw out quite a bit of phone wire. I'll never need that again!
