Everyone has an expectation of what will happen in a given car accident. If one is sitting in his car at a stop light, and someone rear-ends him at 25 mph, one expects that the back of his car will get totally messed up, maybe with some irreparable frame damage, and one expects a case of whiplash. If you were in such an accident, and your car's gas tank exploded due to a design flaw, how would you feel about bringing a lawsuit against the car manufacturer? You might seek money to cover your hospital bills, or you might seek more money for (what do they call that?) emotional damages, or you might hope for punitive damges against the company.

Would you seek money? How much and why? Or why not? Might you opt not to, but feel that others are within their rights to do so?

This is hypothetical, right? You weren't rear-ended during your lunchhour, I hope.

Yeah, and I had to type this out with my tongue because I'm now quadriplegic.
