I heard from the cabinetmaker. It doesn't sound like he'll be able to install this weekend. I hope he can do it on a weeknight then, since we'll be out of town the following weekend.

I also asked him how much the crown molding sticks out from the cabinets. He said the cabinets plus molding comes to 16-3/4". So I was able to go around and touch up the areas on the ceiling that would be past that. I did my almost-final sanding, and one last, light application of joint compound. tomorrow I will be able do the final, light sanding, and then paint.

I suppose I should do the ceiling first. I wonder how much we'll need. I've got half a gallon of what the kitchen used to be. Or should I use that on the south wall. That one leads into the family room, so we'll leave it the original near-white. The new color is a light almond, I guess.

Oh, damn, do I need to take the counter off the peninsula, and clean up the wall before the new countertop goes in? To patch up anything that might be left exposed?
