Friday night I reconnected the sink drain. It took a bit less than an hour, not including the trip to the hardware store. Most of the pipes were plastic, but I got the wrong P-trap, so I used a metal one I had lying around. It leaked because I didn't tighten it enough, I guess. Instead of getting a pipe wrench, I put a bucket under it. I stopped at the store when we were out today and got the correct plastic one. I got everything replaced and turned on the water. There's a side branch where you connect the dishwasher drain. That's not hooked up, so I just figured I'd tell Cindy not to wash dishes until I figured out how to plug it. But when I turned on the water, water came pouring out of it. I realized I hadn't removed the rag from the end of the drain pipe. I had put it there to keep sewer gas from coming out. And I was pretty sure I'd remember to remove it before connecting the pipes. So I took it apart, removed the rag, put it all back together, checked for leaks, and then put the dishwasher drain hose on (it's not connected to anything, but it's long enough that no water will come out of it).
I cleaned up the garage so Cindy could get her car back in.
And that's it for the weekend so far.
