The sky was clear at sunset, so I went out at 5:00 when there was still a little bit of light in the sky. The planets were the only things I could see in the western sky. So I saw Jupiter and Saturn. I think they were about a finger's width apart (with my arm extended).
I borrowed Cindy's 400mm lens (mine is 300mm) and her new tripod. I didn't get very good shots, but I could see Jupiter's moons. Strange, though, that there were only two of them. It turns out that the other two were either in front of or behind the planet. (https://shallowsky.com/jupiter/) I was disappointed not to see Titan, Saturn's largest moon.
The planets are pretty low on the horizon, and I encountered some atmospheric diffraction, which blurred my photo. The next time they come back into view, I'd like to see if I can get better shots.
