Many years ago, I got a ratchet wrench set. Two wrenches, big and small, and a whole mess of sockets. But then the small one started locking up. Before long it was seized. It was a Craftsman set, and their hand tools had a lifetime warranty. I always meant to take it back to the store and get a replacement, but for some reason, I never did. No idea why, since I went in that store all the time. I just procrastinated.

And then our Sears store closed. And then Sears went out of business. If I'd been able to get a replacement then, it would have cost me shipping. So I figured I just buy a new one. But more years went by. I was procrastinating again.

So finally I got tired of procrastinating (yes, I said I got tired of procrastinating) and bought one. Cost me about $25. When I got home I took it out of the packaging, and found that it only sorta fit in the case, since it was a little longer.

And I took out the old wrench, because yes, I'd been carrying it around in the case for all these years. I was convincing myself to throw it in the trash, when I wondered if it could be fixed. I watched a five minute video on YouTube, and then it took less than fifteen minutes to pull the snap ring, drop out the ratchet mechanism, oil it, and put it back together.

After more than twenty years of having no small ratchet wrench, now I have two.

Isn't that the way of things? Two may actually be useful...
