Another day where I'd hoped to get up early, but was thwarted by illness. And breakfast. We didn't have any windows out the back of the house, but there was a skylight. Here is part of the Quiraing mountains where we'd hiked the day before:

The sun was out, so we stopped at Lealt Falls overlook again.

Below is another view of The Storr mountains. Our destination is just over the hills on the left side.

We arrived at The Storr. There was parking along both sides of the road, with pay stations. I bought three hours. I think we were only a few minutes late.

Looking back toward the mainland.
The hike isn't a long distance, but it is very steep. It was a tough climb. Every time you think you must be almost there, you come to a rise where you could see it was still a long way off. But the view was good.

Looking south on Skye.

The Storr consists of east-facing cliffs, with these rocky spires in front of it.

One of the spires is known as The Old Man of Storr. You can see that this one is reminiscent of a head, the way it gets narrower toward its base. And it even has an eye or two.

The rock is called gyrolite. It's a type of basalt. When it was formed, there were pockets which allowed some crystalline formations.

Afterward, we retreated to the B&B for a little lunch and a lie-down. Then we drove up to the Quiraing. There's a road over the top of the peninsula, to Uig. This road showed us the stereotypical moors. Boggy upland.

Here's Uig Bay, looking south.
From there, we had just enough time to go down to Carbost and visit Talisker distillery. No tasting or tour, but I did pick up their distillery-exclusive bottling.

Then a quick drive back up through Portree. I saw a parking place in a lot, but by the time I decided it would be worth stopping to look for food, it was too late.
There was a rumor there were more cafes in Staffin than the one we'd eaten at the previous two nights, so we drove around a little. We didn't find any, but we did get to drive down by the bay.
