I've been off work all week. I've been making supper every night (until tonight, because the leftovers are piling up). Been doing some housecleaning. Not much else, I guess. I went in to work today, not to work, but it get a plant, so I could take care of at home for the next week and a half. Also to say goodbye to a guy who is retiring, and give him a little gift. Then I met a friend for beers tonight.
Remember my coworker, Bob, who died a few weeks ago? Bob was funny, in that he always needed reassurance that things were correct. He'd ask me a question, and I'd answer it, and he'd think for a moment, and ask again. I started answering him twice, before he could ask a second time.
Bob was rabidly "buy American." He'd would rather do without, than buy a foreign-made product. Even a necessary product, like a tool. And he wouldn't eat "foreign" food, even when in another country. The guys said that when they were at a restaurant in Italy, Bob asked for spaghetti and meatballs. They had no idea what that even was. He ended up ordering a burger. And on a job somewhere in California, the other guy suggested a Japanese steakhouse, but he wouldn't go. He was like, "dude, it's a steak house, but Bob refused.
