lost phone, follow-up

When I filed the lost property report, for the phone I lost on the airplane, they told me they would keep the case open for three weeks. Two days before the case would be closed, they e-mailed and said they found it. I decided to pay the $16 (cheapest option) for shipping, and have it returned to me. I probably wouldn't have had it shipped back if I'd downloaded my photos off it just before the trip.

We'll see what happens. Is it mine? What kind of shape is it in? And the questions I'll never have answered... Why did it take them almost three weeks to find it? Where was it? Why didn't the flight crew find it when I asked him to look? Could I have been more assertive and had him look again?
