I'm really not liking this winter. We'd have super cold temps. Then we'd finally get snow. Then it would immediately warm up and melt all the snow. Then we'd have super cold temps again with bare ground. That's brutal on the plants. It's supposed to go the other way around. Warm, then snow, then cold. Though I'd prefer it was cold enough all winter to keep the snow.

Snow is the only reason to even have cold. I like having snow on the ground. When it's warm everything is drab and muddy. When it's cold without snow, everything is drab and unpleasant. With snow on the ground, everything is bright sunny white. Not too long ago we had snow on the ground for a week, and the temps were in the twenties. I felt like everything was right. Then it rained and the snow all melted. Now we have flooding. And everything is going to be muddy for weeks.

There was one good thing about this weird winter. The snow was always light and fluffy. I never had any trouble shoveling it.

Yeah, it's been a weird winter in a lot of places. Snow is such a good insulator and I hope your plants survive. It's bone dry here and I'll need to water outside when this is supposed to be our rainy season.
