I was supposed to get a new shed built in the spring. I expected April, though they didn't give me a specific date when I signed up last fall.

The guy called a couple of days ago, and suggested next week. Then he asked how wet the ground is, since he has to drive trucks across it. Very wet. He said I should call back in a week or two, when it dries out. There's standing water there now. In a week or two the ground will be merely saturated - if the rain stops. I'm thinking I'll be lucky if it's dried out by the end of May.

Argh?
I didn't realize you were getting so much rain.

Yes, tons of rain lately. But not only that, you know that gravel road on the side of our yard, where people park? And it's kind of a ditch, but more of a wide, low area? It's usually sometime in June before it gets dry enough to park on without leaving ruts. And even then, over an inch of rain in a week, and it's saturated again.

Checking the weather sites, we had an inch this week, and over 1.5" last week. But plants aren't really growing yet, to suck it up, and it's never really had a chance to dry out from our meager snowcover.

I just saw in the paper today that northern and western Wisconsin are under forest fire advisories, and there have been many fires.

Crazy. Soggy in one area (yours) and dry in others. And we all know there's no such thing as climate change.
