I've been watching a lot of Star Trek lately. Both The Original Series and the Next Generation.

TOS came out when I was a baby. Next Gen came out when I was an adult - when I was 20. That's eighteen years between. That was an entire lifetime for me. And when you look at the two, there's a huge difference in the way they look. TOS was of a different era, and Next Gen seems modern. But it went off the air 22 years ago!

Also, I noted today that one of Patti Smith's more recent albums came out twelve years ago. I couldn't believe it.

It's got to be some sort of temporal anomaly.

Middle age crisis I would say.

Not really a crisis, it's just kinda weird. I mean, it's about our perception of the passing of time. And also our perception of styles.

Yes-- I often think of myself moving to Chicago around 10 years ago, but now it's closer to 20, and the only way I realize this is to think about how old my cat Zola is. At 18, she is only one year younger than my years in Chicago. wtf? lol

Also, even though I know when I was born and what my age basically is, I'll never forget when I was in the ER years ago and was asked to verify the info on my wristband-- it had my birthdate, name, and age. I said, "42?! Am I 42? ...I am 42." The mind is weird, man. *snort*
