I posted yesterday, about how rough the election has been, and how it's not going to get better.

Just to be clear, that was before the winner became clear. I was thinking about the climate of violence, and how nothing would change no matter who was elected. I was referring to the divisive direction the country has gone. The hatred. The culture of hatred of anything different. Differences are seized upon and demonized as the cause of our problems. And that open hatred is wrapped by the flag, so any dissent is seen as anti-American. And there's no defense against that.

I feel as hopeless as you do, Kevin. And you are so right in your analysis.

It's true-- whoever took office, most of us knew we'd still have a lot of work to do. But now, even moreso. Not only is the world watching, their lives are in the hands of this clown-boy just as surely as our lives are. My representatives will be working their arses off, if I have anything to say about all this. And I do. Because we the people and all that jazz. Burn those flags-- burn those effigies-- it's the MOST American thing to do when we're fighting for our rights. For the rights of others. For the safety of the effing world full of people.
