Hotel Wisconsin in Blue
The blue building is the former Federal building, much maligned for its color. It's now called The Blue, and is offices for lease. Across the street from it is the old Hotel Wisconsin. It's now Apartments at the Grand Wisconsin.

Germania building renovations
The historic Germania building is being renovated into apartments. Upon its completion in 1896, it was the largest office building in the city. In 1910, it had the city's first underground parking.

Pabst Theater
The historic Pabst Theater. The 1895 theater included one of the country's first fire curtains, all-electrical illumination, and a very early air conditioning system which employed fans and large amounts of ice. The theater also contained an electric organ, an innovation at that time. The theater is believed the first to employ a counterweight system for hoisting scenery, which was installed after World War I and remains in use today.

The front lobby of the library, which includes the above eagles on the third floor, has a domed ceiling. Above the dome is an open area, below the roof, which has a dome.

WOW! You guys do fancy up there. And doilies on the trees???? Is it really that cold?

How wonderful that beautiful old buildings will have people living in them.

Is there a reason there is a dome, then accessible space then another dome?

Ha!

There's been redevelopment and renovation over the years, downtown. It's good to see people moving in. I wonder how long that trend will keep going.

Because the inside design doesn't match up with the outside design? Access to the lights in the dome? pic of inside dome (https://www.flickr.com/photos/7567757@N05/29481334160/in/album-72157672923145161/)

Isn't the car cozy amazing? And look at all the crocheted animals attached to the top of the car. What a project that must have been and I hope it isn't get stolen though I can't imagine they left it out in the street permanently. .

Since it's not obvious, I must mention that our installation here was not knitted in place. They brought the stuff out, put it around the trees, poles, bike racks, whatever, and stitched them closed.

I love Old Milwaukee...and I don't mean the beer.
:D
I've always liked the Pabst Theatre.
Love the first photo and what's wrong with a blue building?

This is Milwaukee. They don't like anything that's too different. Even the Calatrava-designed art museum had its opponents.

Yup. I knew Milwaukee back in the day and what you're saying is that things haven't changed.
