I did a presentation about Scotland to a group in Milwaukee last night. The Celtic Women. Every month they bring in a guest to talk about something Celtic related. So I brought my photos and discussed Scotland. I talked for just under an hour and showed tons of slides. I gave a bit of history or background on most of the places.
When I first signed on to do this, I decided I'd wait until after our party on August first, and then I'd have all month to put it together. But I didn't start it until September. I was going to spend most of Labor Day weekend working on it, then finish it up over the week. I didn't start it until Monday evening. So then I spent a couple of hours per night on it. It took most of the week to choose the photos. Then Thursday night I started writing my notes. I had to take off work yesterday to finish it. I didn't get done writing my notes until after lunch. Then I had to redo all the photos to make them bigger. 285 of them. In two hours. I got just over half of them done, and I was really rushing. My printer ran out of ink at the last moment, I was late leaving the house, traffic was backed up, etc. I haven't felt that anxious in... ever, I think.
But I got there on time. The woman who runs the thing was late because she had to go back home to get her projector, so I was quite early. I barely figured out how to get the projector working with my computer, but we got that sorted, and everything went fine. There were about 20 people there.

The fact that there was not projector there when you got there would have sent me into a tailspin. I've had my share of technical glitches, and it's no fun to keep a room full of people (probably being paid $2500/hour altogether) waiting even 5 minutes.
Glad it went well. You'll have to bring your show to Spring Green some day. There are a lot of Welsh around here, but they don't bite (unless you want them to ;^) )

No projector didn't bother me, except that one of the women told me the projector wouldn't arrive for another ten minutes. And that I should make it look like it was supposed to happen that way. As in, get started. I told her I'd stall for five minutes, then make some sort of start after that. The woman showed up in five minutes, so then I spent the next five minutes setting up.
I nearly went into a tailspin when I couldn't figure out how get my video through the projector. But it finally worked out.

Stuff like that can be nerve-wracking, though and I'm sorry you had a bit of that just preparing and getting there.
