Well, that was Jeff's funeral. Very sad.

It doubled the amount of churching I've done this year. Second Catholic funeral in a week.

Man, the Eucharist (communion) lasted forever. I kept thinking skip to the end! (a line from The Princess Bride). And partway through, the priest broke into song. It was just like a musical. He started singing, and it continued the story/ritual that he had been telling. Those rituals are interesting. Everything they do is to give solemn weight to everything they do, which makes people feel that it's important. So they remember it and keep coming back. In addition to the religious rituals, Jeff had a Navy honor guard. They performed their own rituals - flag, guns, bugle, salutes.

Grieve and be with people-- this is the importance of such gatherings. I hope you find it cathartic in some ways, as well.
Sending you my love.

Well, it's been a long journey. So this is final. Sort of.

I haven't done any churching this year. Manolo's aunt died but I just went to the funeral home but not the mass.

Churching of that sort is sad. It should all be weddings and christenings.
