the stone path

It was a chilly day, but a cloudless sky made the colors pop.

I think I had to desaturate the sky a bit. It looked fake.

These guys came out to take pictures of each other, and were having fun showing off for the cameras.

the old dam
There was a millstone on the ground near the top of the dam. It is estimated to be the oldest man-made object in South Milwaukee.

There was a wedding shoot going on. Obviously. There were also several families out doing portraits in the woods. The problem (aside from the fact that they were in the way of all of us wandering photographers), was that I didn't think the forest floor was all that pretty. See the first picture above - it's just brown leaves on the ground. All the golden leaves were above.

We did see a professional photographer near the parking lot. He got the family on green grass, surrounded by leaves, which he raked up. And his assistant held a big reflector, so the lighting was great.

Poor little one-armed girl... ;-D

You got a good shot of her off the hip while talking to Brian. Nicely done!

I noticed that. :-) It's not often you see kids playing in the sand at the beach while dressed in heavy coats.

The bridge and waterfall (damfall?) is very nice and great light in the last photo!

(Not all the photos are showing and not all are clickable!)

Thanks.

Are they still not showing? The photos are either linked to Flickr, or are sourced from LJ.

They're all showing now! Before I couldn't see the one of the family with the photographer and the two that follow that one. But now, yes!

One of the guys said he had sold a big print of the dam from under the bridge.

My absolute favorite of this batch is the clump of trees starting to turn, with the gradient blues of the sky, the flat blue of the water, and the white fence. GORGEOUS. Oh, and the sky that "looked fake"? I see that all day long in the winter here.

Many of these look dimmer than your normal photos. Could that be the monitor issues you talked about?

I'm thinking he'll want to refix a lot of photos when he gets his new monitor. The color and sharpness is not his usual level.

I don't have the best eyes, but I noticed the difference.
