Subject lines have returned to basic comment pages. The option must be turned back on, for communities.

Not yet, at least not for all of us. I understand there is a bug that they are trying to fix. I saw the option when I tried to comment on the lj release entry, tried to "do the fix" they outlined through the link, but it is not showing up in my S1 unsupported journal. As I understand it, when they fix the broken thing, then the subject line option will show in my journal.

This has been explained to me by someone else btw.

I saw someone say that it won't work if you opted out of the latest LJ.

Oh! I had another flister tell me about the bug, and the "evidence" he used was that if you comment on the lj release entry, you get the subject option. I tried that, and I did get the option in the comment, but as you pointed out, that is a community. I have not tried it yet in the journals that I did not opt out of.

I know you like them, and I always intend to use them when commenting in your journal, but I always forget.

Yes, it was broken, and yes it works now.

It took me a good 20 minutes to figure out. I had to find the post that announced it, then read through the various instructions to people that couldn't figure out how to set turn them back on. Then I had to set the community's style to S2, but the community maintenance interface doesn't work well - half the time, when I make a selection, it tries to change my own journal. And a couple of times it told me it couldn't make the change. They said I could change back to S1 after making the comment selection, but I see no place where this is possible. And I had to select an S2 theme, but there's only one available for free, which I don't much care for.

Well, thank you for putting in the effort. I have just had a onemoreword splurge.
