This week is our annual inventory. It usually lasts two days. This is the first time they haven't done it on a weekend. Everyone has to help, and they rely on office staff for many of the essential tasks, so they asked for volunteers on the off-shifts. I'm working a late second shift tonight (7pm to 3am), and a regular second shift tomorrow night (4 to 12). I expect to be back at my regular job on Wednesday, but I'll probably come in late, after having worked until midnight.

Saturday night, I stayed up until 1:00. Last night I stayed up until 2:00, and got up about 10:30 this morning. Working until 3:00 shouldn't be too tough. Fortunately, I have a short ride home.

Not like i used to. By the time I went to bed last night, and the night before, I was *really* tired.

Age...I'm still a night owl but less and less these days though I still stay up way later than most people.

Years ago, I worked for a company in Winnipeg called Winpak. They had plant shutdown, and would count inventory, and then compare it to the stock numbers on the computer. It didn't matter what position you had, you counted inventory in some capacity. It wasn't particularly enjoyable or, interesting but, I can relate to your task at hand.

Yep, that's exactly what we do. Usually I'm an auditor, but this time I'm just totaling counts.

In the past, they've always done it on a weekend, but this time it's during the week.

Working different shifts in a week is jarring to your system but you are chill enough that it shouldn't be too bad. Taking things in stride is key to handling that. If you had to do it every week it would catch up with you though.

The work is Tuesday and Wednesday, for most people. But I volunteered for second shift, so I'm one of the few who got Monday and Tuesday. That means I could work up to it over the weekend. Funny thing is, I should be going back to my regular job on Wednesday, first shift, when everyone else is still doing inventory.
