My mom happened to be in Madison last week. She saw the big deformed penis Amorphophallus Titanum. She actually saw it when its spathe was open, and when it stunk. She wasn't very impressed. Big ol' ugly, stinky flower thing.

Yep, it's right at the site. It's the one with the male and female flowers, and the maggots are between them.

I saw a similarly bizarre flower at Kew Gardens a few years back. For a few days it grew so tall, they had to take some glass out of the greenhouse roof above it.

Can't remember what sort it was, I'm afraid.

It may have been the same plant, as Kew Gardens
does have one of it's own growing. I don't know
the date it last flowered. This thing is so strange, it is hard to imagine that there could be
many varieties of plants like it.
