galery night

There were two shows in Milwaukee. One was the CoPA juried show. Most of it was excellent, but a few pieces left me wishing I'd entered something. The other was the first Wisconsin appearance of the work of Vivian Maier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivian_Maier That gallery also had photographs from two other (local) women. That show was in the Marshall Building, which is seven floors of gallery and studio space. There was some good stuff there.

And then we shot some photos from the top of the parking garage.

That is one wonderful picture, Kevin! Eerie...where did the red light come from?

Red light in the alley. It was purple when I first saw it, but by the time I got there, it had changed to red. There's a club there, or something. The orange cone is for the valet parking.

Oh, I heard of her just recently. What did you think of her work?

That is a surprising, red, color on the street. It's nice that you got on that street.

She's awesome. An untrained photographer, who spent a lifetime perfecting her craft. Though her early images are great too.

Thanks for the glimpse of Downtown Milwaukee. I know that people often say "a city is a city" but every city has its own special nuances and intricacies that give it a unique... I can't say "person"ality, but maybe character?
