After Finlaggan, we went back west, and out the north side of Loch Indaal to Port Charlotte. Bruicladdich distillery is near there, so we stopped in for a wee dram, then moved on west.

We parked next to a little church (that now houses the Museum of Islay Life) and churchyard (cemetery) and walked back up the road to photograph Loch Indaal Lighthouse.

On the way back to the car, we passed a pasture. Everywhere we went, other than the Highland cows, all the regular cows were very curious about us.

We stopped at this cemetery at Nerabus. There were three, actually.

The current one (foreground), the old one (behind the fence), and the ancient one (in the back).

This is the Lower Burial Ground. It dates from the time that the MacKays were the powerful family on the island.

In the back is the Ancient Burial Ground of Clan Donald...

We were on the north side of Loch Indaal, pretty far out toward the tip of the peninsula on the northwest end of the island. On the southwest tip, stands the American Monument. It was built by the American Red Cross, in memory of the victims of two sinkings during WWI. It's about 75 feet high. Beyond that, in the distance, is Ireland.

The now-familiar mountains in the neighboring isle of Jura.

I am enjoying the moss covered graves. Cows... well they aren't very smart, but loveable.
