Friday, I hooked up my mom's new DVR. I'm hoping my niece will be able to show her how to use it. Otherwise I'll have to. I'm sure i can figure it out, I just don't want to have to sit there for an hour trying to figure it out while my mom makes all kinds of helpful suggestions.
After that, I got Doug and we went to Chicago to check out Delilah's. They're a whisky bar, and they have a fabulous collection of Scotch. Not a highbrow place, though. They're a punkish bar. Lots of regular people having beers and whiskies. By regular, I mean mostly locals, with tattoos. Social Distortion playing on the hi-fi. They have really great whisky. I need to go back.
Saturday we Christmas at Dad's and stepmom's. It was a full house (23 people), though not as noisy as usual. I gave my dad a framed photo of his favorite distillery. He gave us a print he did from Culloden battlefield. He also made me a bottle glorifier from a barrel stave. In the white elephant gift exchange, I got a bunch of crap. Cindy gave a 16x20 photo of ourselves. I thought that was hilarious, unfortunately, my dad opened it. It would have been much funnier had a stepsibling gotten it.
When I got up that day, I felt like I might be coming down with something. I was hoping the feeling would fade after the morning, but it didn't. I was very tired. We left dad's kind of early. By evening, I was definitely coming down with something - my throat hurt. Likely the same cold Cindy's had for the last week or more. Yesterday I felt pretty shitty. My head hurt, and my nose was running a lot. Today, there's not so much pain, though my throat and sinuses aren't right. I'll probably be good enough to back to work on Thursday.
After we got back from my dad's, we watched The Five Doctors. Good concept, but not too interesting a show, otherwise. Yesterday, we watched two of the Fifth Doctor's episodes. One good, one bad.
Today, when it was up to 5°, we went out to pay some bills and cash some checks. Probably watch more Doctor Who.

I'm sure we'll use the peppermint schnapps. The Relax/lighthouse candle is in our bathroom. I threw away the life preserver hook because it angered me when it snagged the tablecloth (I probably shouldn't have done that). I can send you the gratitude rock, heart-shaped box and toothpick holder, if you'd like. Or any of the other items, for that matter.
