low_delta: (christmas)
We ran some errands on Monday. Then I went outside to dig up the rest of my carrots from the garden. We were both looking forward to not leaving the house for a couple of days.

Tuesday was Christmas Eve. We each ended up having to run out for a short while. I changed my mind about a gift for my sister, and went to get her a different one. I expected holiday traffic to be bad, but it wasn't as bad as the day before. Cyn baked a chicken for supper, and afterwards we opened our presents. From each other, but also some that her kids had sent.

Today we had a leisurely morning. Then we went down to her sister Melissa's place, along with their mother, their other sister Devonne, her son Ian and girlfriend Sara, Melissa's husband John, and his two brothers. And Melissa's cat Timmy.

Then we drove back up to my mom's for Christmas dinner with her, and my sister's family. The niece got One Direction stuff, and water speakers. The nephew got Packer stuff. And owl puke.

My mom got me a case of ginger beer. My sister got me a bottle of whisky (among other things). I was surprised, since my mom is so opposed to me drinking. We all chipped in to get my mom a DVR. I have to go back and set it up. And my niece will have to show her how to use it.

I hope your holidays were/are good!

Owl puke!??! I know someone who might like that even though I'm not sure I know what it is. She just likes all things owl.

The kit has two upchucked owl pellets that contain the bones of whatever little animal it ate, mouse, bird, vole, shrew, etc. The kit comes with a magnifying glass and a dissection tool (wooden pick). The pellets are sterilized so it's supposedly safe.

I'd like to be there when he dissects them to find out what's in there.

One of the pellets had three different rodents in it.

Also, I didn't know you could get a DVR without cable? Or she does have cable?

Magnavox makes one. It can take any signal, including antenna. It can record to disc or hard drive. It was the only one I could find that didn't require a subscription. From what I can tell, most subscriptions are about ten dollars a month (minimum), and all you get from it is that your machine knows the names of the shows you're recording.

Magnavox seems to make electronics for old people. they also still make a VCR/DVD recorder. I'm thinking of getting one.

Owl Puke huh? Well that's certainly different. ;^)

Our holiday was... interesting? Some fun, some not fun.
