Friday after work, a bunch of people went out to a local bar for drinks. Cyn came out with me, and we talked with people for about an hour. Then we went out to eat.

Yesterday we went down to Milwaukee for a photowalk. Three was only one other person. I guess people just aren't interested anymore. The other guy said that there are other photowalk opportunities happening.

In the evening, we saw a band called Harmonious Wail. They're from Madison, and listed as a Gypsy jazz trio. I would have preferred more Gypsy. They were pretty jazzy, but it was more a jazz standards thing, with an emphasis on Christmas songs. They comprised a mandolin player, a bassist and a singer who did percussion.

Photos from downtown Milwaukee...

Zamboni
The Zamboni was just coming out when we got there.

distracted?
I was amazed at the amount of time the kids spent looking at their phones. Maybe there were taking photos or video?

If I'd been paying attention, I would have moved around to the other side of the tree, so the girl in the moon was facing the tree.

At the entrance to City Hall, on our way back over to the skating rink.

The Performing Arts Center, across the street of the rink.

Red Arrow
What caught my eye was all the gear piled around the monument, but I like the reflection of the big Christmas tree in the polished granite.

Those are nice pictures of the interiors. You always make Milwaukee architecture look so interesting!

And I like the reflection of the tree in the polished granite, too. Thanks for explaining it.

Nice night photos. And I think I'm with the kid by the upside blue trashcan.

Thanks!

The red arrow also shows the reflection of a tall pink flag, and you can see the rink railing below the blue lights.

I hope you'd at least have skates on, if you needed the barrel.

Oh, cool: I had noticed the pink-ish hue of the flag but didn't know what it was.

I don't know about wearing skates at all - the last time I did, trying to keep my feet more-or-less level was so hard that I was really happy to get off the ice.

I think my balance may be good enough for ice skating, but I'm not sure my ankles are strong enough. I'm pretty sure I only tried it once, when I was a little kid, and that's what I had trouble with.

balance & ankles

That's definitely a "no" on both. I think I'd have to do exercises just to start to do beginning skating exercises.

My favorite is the last one.

I'm sure that's the case, for most people. :-)

I'm with that little kid in the last pic, haha. I enjoy ice skating, but I'm not very good at it!

I used to.work with Sims Pothoff, the mandolin player, at a restaurant in Madison back in 1978. I haven't seen him since 1981, except on TV with Harmonious Wail.
