A couple of you seemed interested in the details of a couple of the shots of Edinburgh.

This is a similar view as the first pic from yesterday's post. Both of them were taken across an odd intersection. It was very large, with about six points, but spread out. The buildings on the two "middle" corners can be seen on either side, with a church on the far corner. To the right of it, just down the block is the Parish Church of St. Cuthbert. That's the steeple from the other picture. In the distance on the hill is the castle.

Next, for comparison, is that same photo.

I was standing on a different corner, and have zoomed in a bit. Do you see the little specks on the castle wall, to the left of the steeple?

Here's a crop from the previous photo, at 100%. Now you can see that those specks are people.

So now, I'm one of those specks on the wall, looking down at the city...

Do you recognize the landmarks from the previous photos?

St. Cuthbert's is obvious. The other church just past it, and parts of that odd intersection.

Wow. Our buildings look like shoeboxes compared to those. We sure don't have the history or the style they had/have over there.

You speck you!

That steeple is just gorgeous from any angle.

I am really enjoying these posts, despite my lack of comments to them.

I do love the look of European cities that have lots of the *old* left. However, I never liked LIVING in really old homes like the ones we lived in when I was a child. They were pretty, but the walls (double with hollow interiors) were full of critters and disgusting bugs that got into everything.
I loved the buildings in Spain... but wow... the dust!

Your explanations with the photos makes a lot of sense!
